Poland continues its growth

25/05/05 - The Polish ceramic industry is continuing its expansion. According to the latest figures published by the Italian Trade Commission ICE, national production capacity has reached 120 million sq.m/year while the domestic market is estimated at around 85 million sq.m.

Leading Polish companies, including Ceramika Paradyz and Tubadzin, are making numerous investments in technology. Ceramika Konskie has recently started up a factory for the production of products marketed under the new Stargres brand name.

The Polish ceramic industry is also increasing its exports to neighbouring countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania.
The largest Polish tile producer Opoczno (annual turnover 105 million euro) exports 17% of its output. The export shares of the other large companies are even higher: Paradyz (100 million euro turnover), Cersanit (80 million euro in the ceramic sector alone) and Tubadzin (45 million euro) export 27-28% of their total output. Polcolorit (23 million euro turnover) exports 18%.

Poland is also seeing a process of internationalisation in terms of production. Opoczno recently acquired the Lithuanian company Dvarcioniu while Cersanit is planning to build a production unit in Lithuania.
