Spanish exports during the first nine months of 2006

25/01/07- Cevisama 2007 will take place within a moderately positive climate for the Spanish ceramic industry. According to figures published by Ascer, the first nine months of the year saw a 7.1% growth in exports to 1,656 million euro.

The United States remains the leading outlet market for Spanish tiles with almost 174.5 million sq.m, 8.1% up on the first nine months of 2005. However 62.1% of the Spanish industry's export sales, equivalent to 1,029 million euro, are concentrated in Europe. In particular, turnover in the 25 European Union member countries totalled approximately 773 million euro, 46.7% of total exports. The two most dynamic countries were Italy with 14% growth and Greece with 13.2%. By contrast, sales in the United Kingdom and Portugal fell by 2.4% and 10.8% respectively.

Eastern Europe remains a dynamic market for Spanish producers with a 15.5% increase in sales to 217.5 million euro as of the end of September and now accounts for 13.1% of total exports. The tumultuous growth of the Russian market (+32.3%) contrasts with the 11.7% fall in sales to Romania, down to 45 million euro.
