LB solutions for LB for large-size tile production
LB’s spirit of innovation is reflected in its response to the now well-established trend of large-size tile production. Migratech and Freestile are the technological solutions designed and built by LB for these kinds of products.
The dry grinding process with Migratech microgranulation produces a body with good flowability and ease of de-airing during the pressing stage. This procedure guarantees uniform compaction of the ceramic product. The high body quality achieved with Migratech is comparable to that of the wet grinding process with a spray dryer and allows for the production of large sizes with smaller layouts and lower operating and maintenance costs. Migratech has achieved results that just a few years ago would have been unthinkable, such as the production of dry ground porcelain (absorption < 0.1%) in sizes up to 60×120 cm.
The other LB technological solution designed for large-format tile production is Freestile, which represents a real innovation in the field of powder preparation systems. It allows for simpler and smaller production layouts while increasing efficiency, flexibility and colour variability in the production of full-body and glazed porcelain.
In late 2015, LB secured a factory expansion contract from a major Spanish large-size tile producer, testifying to the excellence of its work in the field of large-size tile and panel production during the year. The function of the supplied plant was to serve a third large-size tile production line and to double the existing storage capability.
The new Easy Color Boost (ECB) colouring system will be installed on the technological tower body preparation line, complete with 4 oxide batching units for the preparation of dry coloured powders.
The third large-size tile line will be equipped with a Tecnoslab aesthetic kit, a solution that represents the present and future of double-filling effects for large-size tiles and panels.
As always, LB has provided a timely solution to the needs of ceramic companies, who in order to compete in the globalised market have to offer a wide range of tiles with different sizes and aesthetic effects while at the same time cutting production costs.
Large-size tiles and panels have numerous advantages, including ease of handling, higher value, the option of cutting them into smaller modular sizes without having to change the mould, and a smaller number of finished products stored in the warehouse.
